ALL3DP

The Moose series scanners offer a seamless blend of user-friendly features and powerful scanning capabilities, catering to beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike.

3D Printing Industry

Being so lightweight and small, the scanner was remarkably easy to use. I had no problems moving around the objects I was scanning, and the Moose did a fantastic job of capturing the object accurately. If it ever lost its bearings, then it was just a simple case of moving the scanner back to a part of the model it had previously scanned and waiting for it to catch up.

Super impressed with the Moose Scanner! We review scanners from most of the major manufacturers and find the moose to be very easy to use, it is very forgiving when conducting scans, shaky hands are welcome, the quality is also great! I love the size!

@EBPMAN Tech Reviews

The Moose from 3DMakerpro could be the 3D scannerthat hobbyists have been waiting for...We will get to seewithin the next couple of weeks whether 3DMakerprohas pulled this off, but initial signs look great, and those pre-order prices are tasty.

Review Moose 3D

All in all, I am very impressed with the Moose Scanner
I quickly completed the learning curve thanks to online tutorials (in English).
The scan results totally convinced me - structured metal weight, cordless screwdriver, knife sharpener, eggshell, cork, ...
Transferred 3D obj to Blender and checked the mesh structure - flawless.
I was unable to scan a chestnut in a shell with long spikes.
Scanning old coins did not produce satisfactory results

Good product!!!

A little difficult to use but ok…

Worth the money in my opinion.

About my background.
I am a 3D printing enthusiast, who work as an industrial surveyor and do 3D scanning professionally. For my hobby, I was looking for a nice little scanner to generate data for my 3D printing projects.

To test the moose scanner, I compared the scanning results with those of a professional 3D Scanner (Creaform Handyscan - certified Accuracy +-0,012 mm), to test the described accuracy and resolution values, mentioned in the description. Not a fair comparison but still interesting.

Sidenote: I only tested the scanner for a few hours and on a few selected objects yet. This is a "quick" first impression of the scanner so far.

Accuracy:
I think the scanning results are very good for a scanner in this price segment, but the accuracy of 0.03mm you may only find in the datasheet or under laboratory conditions. It might be, that you can get the right measurement of an object feature (width, length or height), but the single point accuracy you could expect under good conditions (ideal object surface etc.), may be around 0.1mm which is still impressive but not how it is advertised. It is still totally fine for most applications.
On larger objects - 500->1500mm -, the accuracy might get worse. Usualy there is a additional information on accuracy depending on the distance the scanner traveled (error propagation), this is the volumetric accuracy.

Resolution:
The Resolution of 0.07mm on most objects is not usable in my opinion. Unfortunately, the surface quality is anything but good due to the measurement noise. Resolution of 1mm and above will get you smooth surfaces. Maybe 0.5mm will do it too, when the surface is good for scanning.
The example of the Joker statue is in 0.5mm resolution.

Conclusion:
Overall, I can recommend this device.
If you are looking for a scanner, to bring your 3D printing, or your 3D modelling passion on the next level, you will have much fun with this device.
It is easy to use and you can get good results quickly.
I do not know how easy it is to get started, when you have no experience in 3D scanning at all. It may take some practice to get the best results.

For all German users: The translation is not "the yellow from the egg" as we would say ;). It is an advantage to be able to speak English, so you can use the English version of the software.

If you made it to the end of this review.... What is wrong with you. Start scanning!

Learning Curve Greater Than Anticipated

Got my delivery via DHL. Terrible experience. They dropped it at the Post Office but did not advise me where it was. I was expecting it to be delivered to my house🤬🤬🤬🤬.
Learning how to get a good scan is still underway. The software is good but like all software needs some time to become familiar with. Two attempts so far and results getting better. The STL file kills my CAD package (Rhino 8) but that could be me?
All signs are promising so so far so good👍. Accuracy is something I am after. I think I will need to make a scale correction.
